Pune-based Indian two-wheeler manufacturer - Bajaj Auto has recently trademarked the name 'Neuron' in India. So, what is Bajaj Neuron? Is it a brand new upcoming Bajaj Motorcycle? Is it a 400cc Avenger or a new retro cruiser as retro motorcycles are getting very popular in the Indian market? Or is it something else? There are so many questions floating around it on the internet. We try to figure out what the Bajaj Neuron can be!
So, Bajaj Auto recently trademarked the name Neuron in India. The journal was applied in July this year and it was accepted by the Indian Government in the last week of September 2020. Currently, its status shows 'Accepted & Advertised'. If we see its description in the patent file, it reads everything ranging from two-wheelers, motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers to parts and components, etc. Thus, we cannot really make out what it will be!
So, let's try to assume what it can be! The upcoming Bajaj motorcycle can be a 400cc version of the Avenger. Bajaj Avenger is a very popular motorcycle series in the Indian market. In fact, the Avenger series is one of the most affordable cruisers in India. Thus, Bajaj might launch the Avenger 400 with a new Neuron name to give it a distinct identity. It might look similar to the Avenger but will be vastly different and will be a proper sub-400cc cruiser.

Talking about the powertrain, it can borrow the powertrain from its cousin - Dominar 400. The new Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a BS6-compliant 373.2cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DTS-i engine. This motor churns out 40 PS of power at 8800 RPM and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. So, Bajaj might plonk in this engine in the Neuron with some mechanical tweaks. It can be a new retro motorcycle too as they are getting very popular these days.
While we do not expect it to be a new electric motorcycle or something like that. The next possibility is that it can be the name of a new component or a part that has something to do with connectivity tech. Just like TVS calls its connectivity feature as Smart Xonnect, Bajaj might also launch connectivity features for its motorcycles and name it as Neuron. It is possible as Neuron suggests some sort of connectivity between the machine and the rider.

If Bajaj Auto really introduces connectivity features for its Pulsar and the Dominar range, it will surely make these motorcycles much more desirable than before. However, what is it actually?
