Bajaj Pulsar P125 - What It Would Be?

Bajaj Pulsar P125

As it appears to be, the spied test mule looks similar to the Pulsar P150. However, a closer look reveals that it has skinny tyres & a smaller engine fitted. There were rumors already about a smaller P125 at the launch of the P150 itself. Now, with the struggling sales of the P150, Bajaj might try to retrieve the investment via a smaller P125. So, what would it be? First of all, the nomenclature of the name will be the same as the P150. Hence, the design and aesthetics will also be identical to it. But, we can expect a few changes to the side panels & maybe to the fuel tank. Additionally, the hardware on it will be different for obvious reasons.

Spec-wise, it shall borrow the 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the Pulsar 125. This is a tried & tested engine that is powerful as well as fuel economical. On paper, it produces a peak power of 11 bhp & a peak torque of 11 Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission which is capable of delivering a fuel economy of upwards 50 kmpl. On the hardware front, visible equipment is the front telescopic forks, a rear mono-shock, 17-inch alloy wheels, front disc brake, etc. Feature-wise, Bajaj will offer a semi-digital instrument console with a USB phone charging socket.

Verdict

The idea of a smaller P125 might not sound very strong initially but it'll boost the 125cc segment sales for Bajaj. However, there is still time until we get more clear info about this particular bike. If Bajaj plans to launch it; we suspect that it'll debut in the second half of 2024. Expect its pricing to be around Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom).
