The BMW G310 R and G310 GS were launched in India in mid-2018 and these were the first made-in-India BMW motorcycles. The BMW G310 twins, as well as the TVS Apache RR 310, were developed under the TVS-BMW Alliance in which the designs and developments were majorly done by BMW, but the production facility took place at TVS' Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. This Indo-German alliance was formed back in 2013 with the main objective to attract the mid-capacity bike buyers and the coalition nailed in doing it.
Now, coming back to the BS6-compliant versions of the G310 twins. While every auto manufacturer is increasing the cost of their products in the process of transition from BS4 to BS6, but it seems that BMW is going against the market trend as the German manufacturer is prepping-up to launch the BMW G310R BS6 and G310 GS BS6 with a massive price cut compared to the BS4 models. The BMW G310R BS6 and the G310 GS BS6 will be launched in India by July this year with a hefty price drop of 75,000 rupees.
The BS4 compliant version of the BMW G310 R was priced at Rs. 2.99 lakhs, while the G310 GS was priced at Rs. 3.49 lakhs, Ex-showroom. Although these were the most affordable BMW Motorcycles yet, they were quite overpriced considering it was locally manufactured and most of the parts were shared with TVS. With the transition to BS6, BMW is trying to correct their pricing to give sleepless nights to the KTM Duke 390 and the 390 Adventure.
The BMW G310 twins share its powerplant with the Apache flagship and all the three motorcycles are powered by a 312cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed transmission and this time it might come with a slipper clutch as standard.
