BMW is looking to expand its line-up of EVs in the country with the BMW i5 M60 xDrive being the next in line. The bookings for the same have commenced and the i5 will be offered in the top-spec M60 xDrive version only. BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Pre-Bookings Open
The pre-launch booking for the BMW i5 has already begun and the electric mover will be brought via the CBU route (Completely Built Unit). Also, this will be limited to a very small quantity and will be available to the persons who manage to book it at the earliest. You can book it through the dealerships or from the official BMW website. It continues with a typical BMW design with a big Sharknose front grille with aggressively styled headlamps integrated with vertical DRLs. The solid crease lines on the bonnet add to the sharp visuals along with the streamlined bumper styling.

BMWs are known for their tech quotient, so you don't get any points for guessing in this case. The BMW i5 M60 xDrive is one feature feast inside the cabin. You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with a connected 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay. The controls for the ventilation and air conditioner are managed through a touch bar housed just below the infotainment screen, reminiscent of the 7-series sedan. On top of these, expect a long list of high-end features like ADAS, automatic climate control, hot and cold ventilated seats, wireless charging, and many more.
Battery, Range, And Specs
The i5 comes with an 81.2 kWh battery that claims a driving range of 516 km on a single charge. You get a standard 11kW AC charging support that can be upgraded to 22 kW capacity optionally. It also offers a 205 kW of DC fast charging which takes it from 10-80 percent in just 30 minutes. Talking about performance, the electric motor churns out a whopping 601 PS power with a max torque of 820 Nm. Courtesy of this, it clocks 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds while the top speed rests at 230 kmph. It comes with a standard BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Expected Price And Delivery Timeline
BMW is yet to announce the pricing but we expect it to loom beyond but around the Rs. 1 crore mark. As far as deliveries are concerned, it is set to begin in May 2024 and the brand states that it will be reaching customers according to their booking chronology.
Verdict
BMW is aimimg to capitalise on the opportunity in the premium luxury EV space. While EVs are notorious for being pocket heavy, the high-end EVs continue to sell at their own pace. Adding to the list, the i5 with its limited quantity, is expected to be sold out pretty soon than usual. However, just cash will not fetch you this electric sedan, you also need to act quick to grab one before they all are gone.
