Bharat Petroleum Plans To Open EV Charging Stations

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global Company has announced a plan to install charging stations at approximately 7,000 petrol pumps in some years time. According to the stats the company has a distribution network of 19,000+ fuel stations in India. With the installation of electric charging infrastructure, the company will have a new opportunity in its business.

To attract new customers the automotive industry is shifting towards producing more and more electric vehicles as the Indian EV ecosystem is now expected to experience robust growth over the years. The companies with strong distribution networks are the ones that are making a move towards electric mobility. BPCL, the second-largest OMC with a nationwide wide network can help in offering the electric charging stations in a shorter period of time with the help of its networks and distributors around. 

Mr. Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum said, Over the next few years, we are aiming at reaching the count of 7,000 stations to support the growing EV industry and these stations would be known as Energy Stations.

Electric Vehicles in a span of a year received a hike in sales by 234%. After the launch of some affordable electric vehicles in the market, the demand for electric charging stations is also increasing. Not only cars but also commercial vehicles are now available with electric variants.

On purchasing an electric vehicle the manufacturer will install a charging port at your residence but if you are ever struck somewhere away from home then you would need a near-by charging station for which BPCL is planning to build an electric charging infrastructure at the petrol pumps itself so that the public isnt troubled much. 

With the installation of EV charging stations the range anxiety before purchasing an electric vehicle will also disappear and more public will start preferring electric vehicles. It is very necessary to make a move towards electric mobility because it is an eco-friendly mode of transportation which helps in saving our environment for a better future ahead.
