BYD Dolphin EV - India Launch Soon?
BYD has recently trademarked its Dolphin EV in India. The Dolphin EV is already well-known in countries such as Europe, Malaysia, and Japan. It's part of BYD's Ocean lineup, which also features the Seagull and Seal EVs. BYD has already registered the Seagull trademark in India, and the Seal is set to be launched later this year.
The Dolphin offers a tonne of features and cutting-edge technology comparable to other EVs from the brand. It includes a wide range of features such as a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with NFC key cards, PM2.5 filter, automatic climate control, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), panoramic glass roof, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), ventilated seats, and many more.
In terms of size, the EV has dimensions of 4,290 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, 1,570 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It received a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP test conducted in 2023.

BYD Dolphin - Powertrain Specifications
In the international market the Dolphin comes with two battery pack options a 44.9 kWh and a 60.4 kWh. The first one offers it a range of 340 km by producing 70kW (93 bhp) power and 180 Nm of peak torque. The latter offers a range of 427 km and produces 150kW (201 bhp) of power and 310 Nm of peak torque.
With a 7kW AC charging power, the 44.9 kWh battery takes 7 hours and 18 minutes to fully charge, while utilizing a 65kW DC charger allows for a 10-80% charge in just 38 minutes. For the larger 60.4 kWh battery pack, an 11kW AC charger requires 6 hours and 12 minutes for a full charge, while an 88kW DC charger completes a 10-80% charge in 40 minutes.
