KIA Syros
The Kia Syros is an all-new subcompact SUV that sits between the Kia Sonet and Seltos. To put it simply, it offers more space than the Sonet and more features than the Seltos. Despite being an under-4-meter SUV, the Syros provides a tremendous amount of space inside and packs segment-first features like a panoramic sunroof, a 30-inch panoramic display, rear seat ventilation, and 64-color ambient lighting. The engines are the same: a 1.0L turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox, and a 1.5L diesel with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. Prices haven’t been announced yet, but Kia says bookings will start in January
KIA Syros Latest Update
Last Updated on 10th June'25: The camouflaged Kia Syros has again been spotted testing, stirring interest in what lies beneath. This prototype, seen in Intense Red shade with a visible exhaust, sparks curiosity about whether it's the rugged X-Line trim, the upcoming Syros EV, or perhaps a fresh 1.2‑litre Kappa petrol variant designed to boost affordability. As Kia continues road tests with heavy disguise, the final reveal is still a few months away.
Kia Syros is a sub-compact SUV unveiled today. It is the second sub-4 meter SUV in Kia’s lineup, after the Sonet, and in terms of features, it is far ahead of it. In fact, you’ll find some segment-first technology in it, borrowed from the Kia Carnival and EV6. Bookings will start in January, and deliveries are expected to commence by February 2025.

Syros Highlights
On Target
Syros sits as a practical alternative to the Sonet, with excellent in-cabin space & with a drool-worthy feature list.
What We Like
Offers a long list of features and excellent rear space comfort with bottom ventilated seats. Interiors feel plush.
What We Do Not Like
Tall boy stance doesn't inspire high-speed confidence and the looks are polarising. Ride quality is a little firm.

Pros & Cons of Syros
What we admire in this car
Boasts a boxy and unique exterior, making it one of the most stylish compact SUVs in its segment.
Loaded with advanced features like a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose sound system, and ventilated seats, it offers great value for money.
Two engine options including turbocharged options ensures a variety of choices to suit performance and efficiency needs.
The interior materials and build quality are premium and provide a good feel.
Equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, and ADAS (in top variants), it ensures driver and passenger safety.
Big on space on the inside, the reclining and sliding rear seat offers good space
Big boot space of up to 465 litres
The base variant is equipped with a decent number of features
What could have been better
The carmaker is not offering any naturally aspirated engine with the Syros. The availability of an NA engine can make the model more affordable.
The turbocharged petrol variants may not be as fuel-efficient as naturally aspirated engines.
Whereas the design part is unique and stylish for many, Syros’s design may look polarising to some who are inclined toward conventional aesthetics.
Not a driver’s car, the Syros offers decent ride quality but it is not meant for dynamism and enthusiastic driving
The suspension is on the softer side which can be a concern for some peopl
The placement of the headlamps could have been better, they are prone to get scratched easily
KIA Syros Detailed Review
- The Syros is the first car under the new Kia 2.0 programme, and as such it receives futuristic styling and other elements inspired by the bigger cars in its lineup.
- The nose is blanked out, similar to an EV, but it gets an actual grille lower down. The front bumper gets a chrome skid plate as well.
- The headlamps are vertically-stacked LED units, with DRLs placed on the side. This setup looks similar to what we have seen on the Carnival.
- The side profile is probably the most futuristic angle of the car, featuring a unique B-pillar treatment, flush-fitting door handles, and 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels.
- The rear also has plenty of traces of the EV9, featuring L-shaped sleek LED tail lights, flared arches, and a silver skid plate treatment on the bumper.
- The Syros’ dashboard is a major step up from the Sonet, featuring a 30-inch tri-screen setup, blending the instrument cluster, infotainment, and the climate control screen.
- Fortunately, not everything is controlled via touch screens, as the Syros retains buttons for the air-con and other various functions.
- The new two-spoke steering wheel draws heavy inspiration from the EV9. That, along with the unique centre console treatment play an important part in the futuristic look and feel of this cabin.
- The Syros is the only car in its segment to feature a ventilated rear bench, which also slides and reclines.
Syros body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R15, R16 & R17 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 190 mm |

- It also gets a Level 2 ADAS suite with 16 functions, such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and parking collision avoidance assist, to name a few.
Syros features:
| TPMS | Yes |
| Wireless Charger | Yes - Front |
| Ventilated Seats | Front Row |

- The diesel is a 1.5-litre mill, producing 113.9bhp and 250Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter.
