This replacement drive will further encourage the masses to opt for more and more electric cars and two-wheelers in the upcoming future. Delhi has already been struggling with the ever-increasing pollution levels for a long period and to make the city go green a focus on EV sales is necessary as per the Delhi government.

GAD has already targeted the VIP registration plate cars being used by the Delhi government higher officials which house the numbers as such 0001. According to the reports published over the internet, these cars will be assessed for scrapping if necessary while their registration numbers will be retained for the designated officials.

Back in August 2020, NGT passed the rule of not allowing petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years to run inside the Delhi-NCR region. This law was commissioned to regulate the stricter emission norms as well as to conclude the ever-increasing pollution due to the older and unfit cars running inside the Delhi-NCR.

As embarked by the officials of the Delhi government, the key goal is to replace at least 2000 petrol and diesel vehicles inside the government's fleet with EV cars in the coming time.

However, the main struggle with the EVs still remains their higher initial buying costs and the lack of EV infrastructure to charge the cars on the go.
