The Delhi govt has announced a strict lane discipline driving rule for the commercial vehicles in the capital which is all set to imply from the upcoming 1st April. This rule will allow safer travel on the Delhi roads and will also lead to good traffic management thus lessening the traffic jams as well.
As shared by the State Transport Minister Mr Krishan Gahlot on this previous Wednesday over his social media handle; the new lane discipline rule will come into effect from the 1st April and is more concentrated towards controlling the rash driving by the bus drivers in Delhi.

The new lane discipline rule will be strictly imposed at a selected 15 locations in the beginning and later on, the government plans to extend these locations for fining the traffic rule violators throughout the national capital. According to the new lane discipline rule, the traffic rule violators will firstly be imposed with a fine of Rs 10,000 and the punishment can extend up to 6 months of prison time depending upon the rule violation levels and safety measurements.
The transport department has created two special teams to enforce the lane discipline rule and these teams have also been provided with new cranes to impound the necessary vehicles. The department will also capture photos or videos of the obstructing vehicles for evidence. The decided 15 locations include - Ashram Chowk to Badarpur Border, the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road stretch from Anuvrat Marg T-point to Pul Prahladpur T-point, Kashmere Gate ISBT to Apsra Border, Britannia Chowk to Dhaula Quan, Jahangirpuri Metro Station-Kashmere Gate ISBT routes.
Apart from this, the govt of Delhi has also initiated a driver sensitization programme which shall focus on spreading awareness about the strict lane discipline rule in the capital. Also, the public works department has been directed by the government to identify and create separate road corridors for traffic density management.

These steps from the Delhi government will ensure passengers' road safety as there have been many incidents in the past that proved to be fatal because of bad lane management by the drivers. Even the DTC buses have been known notorious for driving over the congested Delhi roads.
