Delhi vehicle ban

So, as per the latest update, the Delhi government has decided to curb pollution by controlling vehicular emissions. As per the continuous reports submitted by the GRAP, it is found that vehicular emission is one of the prime reasons behind the high pollution levels. Hence, to control it, the latest ban update has now extended to the old diesel commercial vehicles as well. Delhi has now banned diesel buses which are not BS6. Additionally, only the CNG equipped or electric buses will be allowed to enter the city. Moreover, the mid-weight & heavy-weight commercial vehicles are also banned under this update.

However, commercial vehicles carrying vital goods will be exempted under this update. Any other vehicle will be fined up to Rs 10,000 if found traveling inside the city. As per the government, a total of 40 enforcement teams have been deployed at the border areas between 8 PM to 4 AM. In fact, the reports indicate that a total of 28,471 vehicles have already been fined by the GARP-1, 2, & 3 teams. On the other hand, private vehicles like BS3 petrol cars & BS4 diesel vehicles are still banned until further notice.

Verdict

The increasing pollution levels are not just alarming but also life threatening in Delhi/NCR. While the vehicular emission remains one of the top most reasons behind the pollution, a little is being done to control the industrial pollution as well as firecracker pollution. Nevertheless, this incovenience might not last long if the pollution levels drop after the new ban update via GARP-4.
