The Indian Motorcycle market is said to be the largest in the world and so is the accounted number of automotive enthusiasts in the country. Motorcycle manufacturing companies have evolved in terms of production and marketing due to the demands of the said enthusiasts. Today, it is an inevitable fact that customers and enthusiasts expect and demand bikes that are mature in characteristics and performance. One such brand known globally for presenting motorcycles that are associated with muscular and rugged characteristics is the Harley-Davidson.
Interestingly, a new development has taken place in the Brand's vision- Harley Davidson, the motorcycle brand recognised for its unique products with road presence, has recently announced the launch of its first electric bicycle- The Serial 1. The brand has also mentioned that they have met the demands of its customers in terms of the bicycle's performance and will be starting the sales of the e-bike soon.

According to few sources, Harley-Davidson has plans of producing a total of 650 units. The brand also intends to start delivering the Harley Davidson Serial 1 by the beginning of the fourth quarter, this year.
As for the E-bike, Harley Davidson built this product with the aim of creating a bicycle that reflected the vintage-inspired models from the brand. The inspiration for the design was precisely taken from the brands first motorcycle that was released in 1903. The Harley Davidson Serial 1 E-bike gets white tyres and a sleek looking frame setup that has an integrated seat post. In addition to this, it gets gold lettering and a saddle made of leather for mimicking the retro stance of the Serial Number One motorcycle.
Aaron Frank, Brand Director for Serial 1 Cycle Company had mentioned in 2020, the aim and vision of the brand- "When Harley-Davidson first put power to two wheels in 1903, it changed how the world moved, forever. "Inspired by the entrepreneurial vision of Harley-Davidson's founders, we hope to once again change how cyclists and the cycling-curious move around their world with a Serial 1 E-Bicycle."

He had further added a statement regarding what would be the significance of the Harley Davidson Serial 1 E-bike in today's timeline- "The dynamic, fast-growing E-Bicycle space is at the forefront of a global mobility revolution. "The formation of Serial 1 allows Harley-Davidson to play a key role in this mobility revolution while allowing Serial 1 to focus exclusively on the E-Bicycle customer and deliver an unmatched riding experience rooted in freedom and adventure."
However, the introduction of the Harley Davidson Serial 1 electric bicycle in the Indian EV market is quite uncertain as the EV space is extremely crowded with numerous competitive manufacturers. Indigenous brands like OLA have already grabbed orders worth Rs.1,100 Cr in just a couple of days, hence, proving it to be a tough ordeal for the American Motorcycle manufacturers to dominate.
