The Italian super car manufacturer Ferrari is all set for two major launches this year. One of them is the Purosangue which will be the first-ever SUV from Ferrari. Ferrari 296 GTS Design & Features
Based on the 296 GTB Coupe, this variant is a hard-top version rather than a soft-top. The hard-top design resembles the Ferrari SF90 Spider design as the hard-top is stored behind the seats. This storage space is present in front of the engine compartment.
Design-wise, the GTS is primarily based on the Coupe. Major elements of exteriors and interiors are shared between both cars. The main change remains the removable hard-top roof. This roof can be removed and put up within 14 seconds, as claimed. The working mechanism of the roof allows the engine heat to dissipate; according to Ferrari engineers.
The GTS also gets a new aero-dam along the width of the car. Also, a new engine cover is used for making it a distinctive design. The driver can also adjust the small rear windscreen to reduce the high-speed wind noise buffering.
Owners can also choose from the special Assetto Fiorano Package similar to the 296 GTB Coupe. This package adds several track-oriented features. These features include - Multimatic adjustable suspension, carbon fiber aerodynamic package, weight-saver package, track-specific Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, etc. Additionally, owners can select the Ferrari's performance exhaust upgrades along with the customizable interiors and exteriors.
GTS Engine & Specifications
The GTS is a mid-engine, hybrid supercar which uses a 3.0-lt, twin-turbo, V6 engine. This engine is the same as that of the GTB Coupe and develops a peak power of 664 hp. Once this power is mated to the hybrid system, the power bumps up to 830 hp and a peak torque of 740 Nm.
Contradicting the additional weight of 70 kg to the GTB; GTS performs equally well on the road as well as on the track. 0-100 km/h comes in just 2.9 seconds, 0-200 km/h comes in just 7.6, and the top speed stands at 330 km/h plus. These figures are Ferrari tested by the way.
