Fiat 500 series has been a great success for the Italian carmaker and it helped Fiat to come back in the lane when the roads were not straight. Now Fiat has come up with their first-ever fully-electric car and it was bound to be a 500. The Fiat 500 Electric has some fascinating looks despite resembling with its predecessor. The Fiat 500 Electric offers a range of 320 kilometres and rivals cars like Mini Cooper SE and Honda E.

The third generation of the Fiat 500 is all new and sports new underpinnings. The front facia is revised and the eyebrow DRLs looks cute with this car and uplifts its aesthetics. The diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels are a worthy addition too. It still gets round LED headlights and the front grille (no real grille) has a big logo of 500. Despite having all these changes, the design adheres to the classic Fiat 500' silhouette. Having said that, this cute little car is a first four-seater electric convertible car and gets a cloth-foldable roof which can be opened and closed electrically.
Moving into the interiors, everything is new and futuristic. The 500 Electric is the first car from Fiat which sports UConnect 5 infotainment system. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system gets wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, wifi hotspot, connected car tech with location tracing and precooling, in-car assistant and navigation. The interior looks minimalist thanks to the clutter-less design and lack of buttons. The 2 spoke steering wheel and a digital driver's display also compliments the overall design theme.
In terms of features, the Fiat 500 Electric gets autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane control, lane centring, high-resolution reverse parking camera, adaptive cruise control, auto headlamps, 360-degree parking sensors and level 2 autonomous driving.
Coming to the drivetrain now, the electric motor generates 118 PS of power and it can do nought to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds. The 500 Electric gets a 42 kWh battery pack which can return a range of 320 kilometres. If you are fortunate enough to find 85 kW fast charger, it can be juiced up to 80% in just 35 minutes and if you can't wait for that long, you can get a range of 50 km with a charge of 5 minutes only. The conventional 7.4 kW wall box charger will take 6 odd hours to fill the battery to its cells.

The Fiat 500 Electric has only been launched with the 'La Prima' trim and it costs $ 29,000 which translates to around Rs 27.3 lakh (Direct conversion).
