The Fiat Linea made its debut in the Indian market in the year 2009 with a starting price of Rs 5.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The car was available in five variants - Active, Dynamic, Dynamic Pack, Emotion, and Emotion Pack. The Fiat Linea had a smart and elegant design language which made it significantly attractive when compared to its rivals. The car, even after being heavily inspired by Italian style, the brand had made a number of changes to the car as per the requirements of the Indian buyers. Talking about the interiors, the Fiat Linea had a well-built cabin which had a practical layout. The black-beige dual-tone colour combination of the cabin looked premium and bright, making it feel airy and calming. Moreover, the seats were extremely comfortable while, on the hand, the suspension was on the stiffer side which did make it a great car to drive but took a toll on the overall ride quality of the vehicle.
The Fiat Linea was an extremely feature-rich car and had features such as a factory-fitted audio system with steering mounted controls, two glove boxes, digital odometer, Blue and Me technology and driver's armrest in addition to other features such as ABS, dual airbags, reinforced cabin, and more.

Powering the Linea were two engine options - a 1.4-L FIRE petrol engine, and a 1.3-L Multijet diesel engine. The maximum power output from the 1.4-L FIRE engine was 90 bhp while the maximum torque figures stood at 115 Nm. The diesel engine made 86 bhp and 203 NM, which made it one of the most powerful diesel-powered sedans in its class. The Linea T-JET launched in 2010 was launched with a 1.4-L T-JET petrol engine that delivered 112 bhp and 207 Nm of maximum torque, which made it the most powerful version of the Linea.
