Ford re-entered the Indian car market in the year 1995 and had launched highly competent products in the years to come. The Ikon was originally launched in the year 1999 and got an update four years later in the form of the NXT series. The Ikon NXT was available in three trim options - 1.3 CLXI, 1.6 ZXI, and 1.8D ZXI. The starting price of the car was Rs 5.6 lakh while the range-topping variant was priced at Rs 7.2 lakh. The Ford Ikon NXT was a handsome looking car and had an elegant design language. The headlights at the front were large and overall, the long bonnet and the sharp bumper design gave it a nice looking front fascia which was better than most of its rivals. The rear of the vehicle remains subtle sans any drama.

The interiors of the Ikon NXT had a spacious and a premium cabin with enough space for five grown-up adults. The seats were comfortable and supportive and had excellent under-thigh support. The seating, however, was very low which made ingress and egress difficult. In addition, the Ikon NXT was a very safe and a feature-rich car.
Powering the Ford Ikon were three engine options which included two petrol and a diesel engine. The first engine on offer was a 1.3-L ROCAM petrol which churned out 70 bhp and 105 Nm of peak torque. The second petrol engine was a 1.6-L ROCAM petrol engine that delivered 92 bhp and 139 Nm. The last engine option was a 1.8-L Endura diesel engine that delivered 60 bhp.
