To begin its battery swapping pilot project in India, Gogoro, a leading Taiwanese battery-swapping giant, has established a strategic partnership with Zypp Electric. This collaboration is a B2B project with Zypp Electric, a company known in India for its EV-as-a-Service platform. Both companies will concentrate on utilising battery swapping to quicken the conversion of urban logistics fleets and last-mile deliveries to electric vehicles.
Gogoro Battery Swapping Pilot
The pilot project will kick off from Delhi starting next month and will include Gogoro Network's GoStations, batteries, and smart scooters. The findings of this pilot project will pave way for the company to scale its operations in India. With 350 million battery swaps done to date, Gogoro is a top provider of battery swapping networks. According to claims, Gogoro swapping stations can do 200 swaps per day and are weatherproof.

In its initial phase, the brand would only concentrate on battery-swapping in the Indian market and B2B segment. According to Gogoro, their battery swapping stations are modular and can be built depending on how well the location suits them. Additionally, the brand states that in the event of a blackout, the charging docks can keep running for 64 hours.
Gogoro batteries are smart and robust; they can withstand a load of 10,000 kg, making them safer in the event of an accident. One can switch the battery from the swapping station in a claimed time of just 6 seconds since the battery swapping process is so quick. Everything is computer-controlled, and the software will intervene if it notices a problem with the functioning of the battery or the swapping station.

These swapping stations will reduce the amount of time that EV scooters are not in use in the last-mile connectivity industry. The rider only needs to go to the closest battery swap station, remove the installed battery, and then insert it into one of the empty spaces that are available in the dock. The dock will recognize the rider and the batteries once the rider sets them inside, and then the dock will release two charged batteries, and you are ready to go in a matter of seconds. This eliminates the need for the rider to wait for hours for the battery to charge.
