According to the official data, it is seen that the number of customers who were promised to receive Ola electric scooters in the December delivery window was much lower than expected. Ola previously claimed that it had dispatched 4,000 e-scooters but very few were only registered.
Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola Electric also tweeted that Ola has dispatched a bunch of e-scooters for those who were promised to get it by the month of December. Further, in an official statement, the chief business officer, Arun Sirdeshmukh also confirmed that the company had shipped almost 4,000 scooters in December.
Ola has recently made its entry in the Indian automotive industry and is promising to be much more careful and alert the next time. It was also in the news that the first set of e-scooters delivered at the beginning of December, was not up to the mark. The customers were not satisfied with the range and quality of the scooter, however, after hearing this Ola immediately resolved the matter considering customers complaints on priority.
According to the data that is available over the govt Vahan portal it showcases that only 238 e-scooters were registered in the month of December. This data is a cumulation of all States and Union Territories of India.

With the latest rules and regulations floating, it is not possible for a two-wheeler or any other vehicle to get delivered without getting registered to the government's portal. This makes it quite evident that the set of customers who were promised to get their Ola e-scooters between 15-30 December havent yet received them.
According to the CEO of the company, the registration process is consuming more time than usual as the registration process is a completely new one for everyone. Ola is not able to deliver the orders received in the first window and on the other hand, Bhavish Aggarwal said that it will soon open the next bookings window as well.

Varun Dubey, Chief Marketing Officer of Ola Electric commented, Weve pioneered a direct to consumer delivery model and dispatched the 4000 vehicles we had committed for December. We are now focussing on the dispatches we have committed for January and February 2022. We are ramping up our production accordingly.
He also added, It is important to understand the nuances in VAHAN data. Several states do not report vehicle data in VAHAN. Many are on the older VAHAN version which causes information to flow with delay. Further, temporary registration data does not reflect on VAHAN. Weve started deliveries from 15th December onwards so obviously the complete data will reflect on the VAHAN portal only by Jan end.
