Govt. To Make Special EV Zones; Petrol-Diesel Vehicles Not To Be Allowed-Details

The Indian government is focusing on increasing electric mobility in the country and is implementing plenty of new policies to that aim. The Indian government is making every effort to increase renewable energy adoption to 50%. Electric vehicle sales are also increasing in the country, particularly in metro cities. This year's budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, includes a few promises aimed at improving the country's electric vehicle infrastructure. The no ICE vehicle zones will be created to help the country cut its carbon emissions and reduce pollution. The minister stated, To promote a shift to the use of public transport in urban areas, special mobility zones with zero fossil fuel policy to be introduced. Setting up a no-ICE vehicle zone is a decision that will necessitate a great deal of research and thought.

Some cities, such as New Delhi, are making state-level regulations to address the issue of air pollution. For instance, in New Delhi, petrol and diesel vehicles above a certain age are banned, however, one can convert their petrol or diesel vehicle to an EV under certain conditions. In addition, the government intends to create laws that will allow BS-6 vehicles to be converted to CNG, which was previously only allowed for vehicles that met BS-4 emission standards.

The most feasible way to set up special mobility zones is to start with environmentally sensitive locations such as forest reserves and wildlife areas.  Moving forward, the government can establish these zones in crowded markets, near tourist attractions, and other sensitive places. It's possible that specific mobility EV zones would be established in India's major cities, such as New Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, to address the country's deteriorating air quality. To promote electric mobility, the Indian government is already offering several discounts for purchasing an electric vehicle. No-go zones will be implemented gradually; we'll have to observe how long it takes to get into the actual world without causing a burden to the general public.
