10 Highest Ground Clearance Hatchback Cars in India

Indian roads are as diverse as the valley's flora and fauna. Not only are they riddled with potholes, in some cases the road even ceases to exist. This makes it extremely challenging to traverse these unkempt roads, especially if youre driving a car with low ground clearance. Now, hatchbacks are the most sold car designs in India. Their small and compact design makes it easy to maintain, and steer out of tight traffic situations easily. However, just like nature, not all hatchbacks are perfect and good ground clearance is one of their most common problems. So, we have compiled for you a list of 10 highest ground clearance hatchback cars in India:

Highest Ground Clearance Hatchback Cars in India

Datsun RediGo - 187 mm

To start off the list is the most underrated Datsun RediGo. Underrated, because with the most ground clearance at 187 mm, the RediGo loses out to the Kwid, in terms of looks. However, the RediGo gets the better half of the cheaper price tag, good mileage figures, and a nice interior makes it the perfect buy for first-time Indian buyers.

Renault Kwid - 184 mm

The next car on our list of highest ground clearance hatchback cars in India is the Renault Kwid, which shares the same platform as the RediGo, but its crossover stance makes it more palatable. Its interior is equally appealing and the gear knob will remind you of the ones similarly available on the Land Rover Range Rover. And with a ground clearance of 184 mm, it can trade most Indian roads with ease like an off-roader, as well. Prices for the Kwid start from Rs. 2.94 lakhs.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso -  180 mm

The S-Presso Maruti Suzuki is a small hatchback that looks like a proper SUV. Thus, it is extremely important for the integrity of its design, that it has a high ground clearance. And it does get that as well. The S-Presso sits 180 mm above the ground. And given how lightweight the S=Presso, in theory, the S-Presso has the potential to be a proper off-roader.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis - 180 mm

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is another boxy-shaped hatchback, that has a proper SUV stance. Unlike, the S-Presso, the Ignis is bigger and much more feature-rich. But the extra weight does not eat into its ground clearance, and the Ignis sits the same 180 mm above the ground, just like the S-Presso. Prices for the Ignis start from rS. 3.45 lakhs, and with an economical engine - it comes across as a solid option.

Tata Tiago NRG - 170 mm

The recently launched Tiago NRG is an exciting-looking modern Tata car.Its quirky exterior design and compact interior make it a good buy, but that 170 mm of ground clearance makes it perfectly suitable for Indian roads. Prices for the Tata Tiago NRG start from Rs. 4.99 lakhs with ex-showroom prices in Delhi.

Hyundai i20 -  170 mm

The new-generation Hyundai i20 has been one of the most sought-after hatchbacks. The new sporty exterior design makes it look sporty, and the standard 17 aluminum body makes helps the Hyundai with 170 mm of ground clearance, and for a sport-oriented car thats a pretty good stance for Indian roads. The Hyundai i20 is a premium hatchback that starts from Rs. 8, 21,000, and in this price range, it is one of the few cars with such good ground clearance. The latest i20 is easily among the most premium models on our list of highest ground clearance hatchback cars in India.

Toyota Etios Liva - 170 mm

Toyotas are known for their reliability and the Etios Liva is one such example. The Etios Liva is the only car on this list, that is not on sale anymore. However, you can get hold of one in the used car market. The Etios Liva was everything else, except for being lively. But it's 170 mm of ground clearance made it practical and versatile enough for Indian roads, and become the choice of several first-time buyers.

 Hyundai Santro - 164  mm

The Santro is one of those popular brands from Hyundai. The first generation Santro was an instant hit, but the second generation seems to have lost its novelty in a crowd of Grand i10'S and Eons. However, that should not take away the fact, that the Santro continues to be versatile and practical. It's 164 mm of ground clearance might put it at the bottom of this list, but that doesn't mean it's any less capable.

Tata Altroz - 165 mm

The Tata Altroz has become Tata's most renowned hatchback. The new ALFA platform has been unanimously voted as the most reliable platform, and it has also been rated as the safest hatchback with 5 stars from NCAP.
