Hindustan Motors Ambassador To Return As An EV Soon; E-Scooters Also Coming Along

Hindustan Motors Ambassador will soon be making a comeback as an electric car. HM has signed an MoU to make e-scooters as well as Ambassador EV.

The Hindustan Motors Ambassador is an automotive icon for India. The 'luxury sedan' has been a chariot for lakhs of Indians over years. Profoundly been in use among VIPs and executive class; Ambassador beholds special place inside every enthusiast. However, back in 2014, HM decided to shut down the production of the car. Increasing financial debt was the reason quoted & since then spotting a clean Ambassador over Indian roads has been a surprise in itself.

After the wait of over 8 years and lots of uncompleted speculation; the Ambassador is finally making a comeback. Hindustan Motors has signed up an MoU with an undisclosed European EV manufacturer. The value of this pact stands at Rs 600 crores and the completion of documentation will take place by next year. As per the joint venture, HM will be making electric vehicles. Primarily, HM will start using its 90 acres of a defunct production facility for this.

The total 275 acres of land will be further modified for production use. The CEO of HM stated this recently. The main focus of the new era of production will remain on electric vehicles. This will include the iconic Ambassador brand which shall make a comeback as an EV. Along with this, HM plans to manufacture a range of e-scooters as well.

While the name of this European maker remains undisclosed, it is speculated that this maker beholds great tech support. As per the HM statement; the main focus was on EVs after the debt-free state was achieved. HM approached various Chinese EV makers but finally decided to form a pact with the European maker. This pact will form a distinctive agreement by the next year. Hindustan Motors currently has 300 employees only which is deemed to increase after the official commencement of plans soon.

The e-scooters from HM will compete with the likes of Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, & Bajaj Chetak.
