Honda Cars India is set to launch updated versions of three cars in India in the next 30 days. These include the WR-V, Jazz and the Honda Civic BS6 Diesel model. Bookings are now open for this updated version and deliverie will start next month. Do note that the petrol Civic has been BS6 compliant right from its launch way back in March 2019.
The Honda Civic BS6 Diesel will continue to use the same 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel motor that generates a maximum power output of 118 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 300 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Wil Honda launch an automatic version too? Our fingers remain crossed! With this move, the Honda Civic BS6 Diesel will lock horns with the updated Hyundai Elantra BS6 Diesel.
At launch, the Civic Diesel carried a price range of Rs 20.5 lakh to Rs 22.3 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. It was sold in two trims of VX MT and ZX MT. Honda, we feel, should also offer the BS6 Diesel Civic in the lower trim of V, thus helping it shed the entry-level pricing by about Rs 1.5 lakh. This way, the Civic will make for a great alternative to the likes of the top-end mid-size SUVs like the Creta, Seltos and the Jeep Compass. Do you think this should happen? The Civic BS6 Diesel will continue to come with a long list of safety features. This will include 6 airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handle Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, blind-spot detection, a multi-angle rearview camera and ISOFIX child safety seat anchors. The car will be sold in five different color options of Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic.
