Honda Reveals "Honda 0 Series" - Details
In 2026, Honda is set to launch its inaugural model from the global Honda 0 Series, starting in North America and expanding to Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. The development team revisited Honda's roots to redefine the future of EVs. They aim to break free from the conventional "thick and heavy" EV design, challenging the need for large bodies to accommodate hefty battery capacities. This innovative approach is called "Thin, Light, and Wise".
Honda's upcoming EVs, developed with a dedicated EV architecture, aim to deliver five core values. Firstly, there's a focus on "Artistic design that evokes resonance" under the concept of "The Art of Resonance," aiming for sustainable mobility with a connection to the environment, society, and users. The second core value centres on "AD/ADAS that ensures safety and peace of mind," utilizing Honda SENSING Elite technologies for advanced driver-assistive systems. Moving into the latter half of the 2020s, the Honda 0 Series plans to introduce an automated driving system for more budget-friendly electric vehicles with advanced self-driving capabilities.

The third focus revolves around creating a "space" for people through the Internet of Things and connected technologies. The Honda 0 Series employs IoT, AI, and big data to enhance the driving experience, offering personalized suggestions, information on surroundings, and a connected driving experience. The fourth core value emphasizes "The joy of driving with the feeling of oneness with the vehicle." This involves integrating original electrification and dynamics technologies for an exhilarating driving experience, complemented by a low-height design and advanced aerodynamics from Honda's motorsports expertise.
Lastly, the core value of "Outstanding electricity efficiency performance" focuses on e-axles, lightweight, high-density battery packs, and superior aerodynamics. Honda 0 Series models aim for a substantial range while minimizing battery capacity. Stress-free charging performance and worry-free battery performance are prioritized, with a goal to shorten fast charging from 15% to 80% to about 10-15 minutes for models launching in the second half of the 2020s. Through refined battery system control technology, Honda strives to limit battery capacity degradation to less than 10% after 10 years of use, leveraging insights from data collected from over 1 million Honda electrified vehicles.

Introducing The Honda 0 Series Concept models: The Saloon And Space-Hub
The Saloon, the flagship of the 0 Series, embraces the principles of "Thin, Light, and Wise" with a specialized EV architecture, redefining the EV driving experience. Its compact design, spacious interior, intuitive interface, and advanced motion control, including steer-by-wire technology, create a seamless blend of innovation and driving pleasure.
In the same design language, the Space-Hub follows the theme of "augmenting people's daily lives." With a spacious cabin and excellent visibility, it embodies the "Thin, Light, and Wise" approach. The Space-Hub offers a flexible space, instantly adapting to users' needs, serving as a hub connecting people and fostering mutual resonance within society.
Intresntly, the familiar "H mark," in use since 1981, is undergoing a transformation to signify Honda's strong commitment to advancing electric vehicles (EVs). The fresh design, resembling two open hands, symbolizes Honda's dedication to innovation and embracing new challenges. This updated H mark will grace upcoming Honda EVs, highlighting the brand's promise to expand mobility options and cater attentively to the needs of EV users.
Verdict
Honda's 0 Series sets a promising precedent for the future of electric vehicles, focusing not just on technological advancements but also on creating a holistic and enjoyable driving experience.
