The coronavirus is taking a toll on several automobile carmakers and it is a lockdown in our shores till April 14, 2020. And one such manufacturer is Honda Cars India which has now pushed the dates of its several launches like the new-gen City and WR-V facelift. What's new is that Honda will bring in a new Jazz in its BS6 iteration.

Yes, amidst all the past news that Honda might pull the plug off Jazz, it is now confirmed that they will bring an updated Jazz in BS6 form - the same is shown on the Indian website as well. Now, it is not sure whether the manufacturer will bring in the fourth-gen Jazz to the Indian or will update the current model with tweaks and BS6 compliant engines.
It might be a wise decision not to bring the all-new Jazz in the market. Ever since it's launch in 2009, the Jazz monicker has sold in limited numbers only. The premium hatchback falls short in numbers when compared with the popular Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. That said, we love it for its practical and spacious interiors, easy-going nature and a very frugal diesel engine.
The fourth generation of Jazz, seen below, is sold globally and does come with uber loads of features like electric parking brake with auto hold, digital driver display and among others. It gets updated styling and pumps in new features which add up to comfort levels. The hatchback receives revised upholstery and dashboard design and sits on the advanced body structure which enhances the overall look of the hatchback.
The current Honda Jazz meets with the upcoming pedestrian protection standards which come into effect from October 1, 2020. So it is quite clear that Honda will continue the current-gen Jazz with updated emission norms.
Under the hood, Honda will continue to feature the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in BS6 forms. The power figures are likely to remain unchanged and it'll put out 89 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 110 Nm. Transmission is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional CVT.

Honda will also update the 1.5L diesel engine of Jazz. The same oil burner comes with the 2020 City. This engine puts out 99 bhp on tap and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Adding an automatic with this unit only means a pricey Jazz to which the carmakers are not ready for the moment.
We believe that the new Jazz is expected to launch in early weeks of May 2020 and will take on the likes of Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz. It is expected to see a marginal increase in price when it is launched.
