Husqvarna recently unveiled the E-Pilen concept at the 2021 IAA International Motor Show in Munich, Germany. The concept motorcycle will spawn what looks slated to become the first electric motorcycle from the KTM AG-owned motorcycle manufacturer.
The Husqvarna E-Pilen concept that has been unveiled recently looks quite similar to the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. Wheels, single front disc brake and 43mm USD fork are all same as the 250s but there are some red adjusters visible on the top of the fork, similar to those on the export-spec KTM 390 Adventure.
The most important aspect to think about before buying an electric vehicle is its range. The company has not yet revealed the battery capacity of the motorcycle, but it is confirmed that the E-Pilens range would be around 100km.
The Husqvarna E-Pilen gets a trademark round LED headlamp. The rear section is typically minimal and the number plate and indicators on the bike are likely to be swingarm-mounted, as on the 250 twins. The fat rear tyre also looks similar to the 150-section rubber on the petrol-powered Husqvarna 250.
Talking about the new technology, the motorcycle would be available with a choice of two electric motor options - 4kW which will produce 5.4 hp of power and 10kW delivering 13.5hp. However, the E-Pilen comes with an 8kW (10.8hp) conceptual motor. There is a possibility that Husqvarna also offers other variants as well.
The upcoming electric Pilen appears to come equipped with a very wide radiator, visible radiator cap and hose in the top corner. Another angle reveals that there are, in fact, two small radiators installed on either side. Whether these will cool both the battery pack and the motor, or just one of them remains to be confirmed.

The upcoming Husqvarna E-Pilen will run a new chassis to support this electric powertrain. The trellis frame installed uses a side-slung mono-shock, which is also seen on the latest spy images of the next generation KTM 125 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke test bikes. The E-Pilen also gets a new curved swingarm that appears to be unique to this motorcycle. It is expected that there will be a range of EVs coming from KTM/Husqvarna. The production-spec Husqvarna E-Pilen is to be manufactured at Bajajs plant in Chakan, Pune and it will go on sale in 2022.
