Husqvarna Motorcycles made its Indian debut in February 2020 with the launch of its quarter-litre motorcycles. The company launched the Vitpilen 250 and the Svartpilen 250, and these motorcycles got a very good response in the Indian market. Now, the company is planning to soon launch two more motorcycles in India - Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. Recently, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 was spied on test in Pune, hinting its imminent launch. Here are all the details about these upcoming bikes.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 were revealed at the EICMA 2019. These two motorcycles were about to be launched in India in the first half of 2020. But, all thanks to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, it played the spoilsport and delayed the launch of these motorcycles. The Husqvarna 401 series will comprise of the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. While the Svartpilen 401 will be a street scrambler, the Vitpilen 401 will be a modern-day cafe-racer, similar to the Husqvarna 250s. As you can see in the above picture, this Husky gets a tall-raised handlebar, so it is the Svartpilen 401.
As you might already know, this Swedish two-wheeler manufacturer comes under the umbrella of KTM AG. So there are a lot of similarities and part-sharing between KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles. The Husqvarna 250s share their engine and hardware components with the KTM Duke 250 BS6. Similarly, the upcoming Husqvarna 401s will be sharing their engine and hardware components with the KTM Duke 390. The upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 will be powered by a BS6-compliant 373.2cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, DOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine.

This liquid-cooled motor also does its duty in the Duke 390 BS6. It will churn out 43.5 PS of maximum power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7000 RPM. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. For suspension duties, both these motorcycles will get WP Apex 43 mm upside-down (USD) front forks and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear. For braking duties, they will also get a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Also, it is worth mentioning that the International-spec Husqvarna 401s ride on wire-spoke wheels with tubed tyres. But, the India-spec models are expected to get alloy wheels and tubeless tyres as they are more suitable for our roads. However, the recently spied test mule of Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 gets spoke wheels, so the company might offer those tyres too in India. Finally, talking about the price and launch timeline, the new Husqvarna 401s are expected to hit the Indian showrooms by November 2020.
