Hyundai has opened the bookings for the upcoming sub-4-metre sedan Aura. The entry-level sedan from the South Korean carmaker is based on the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. While the latter was launched earlier this year, the Aura will go on sale on 21t January 2020.
Hyundai announced the bookings for the Aura through a TVC video 'Untangle" and one can book the sedan at a price of Rs 10,000. The booking can be done via the company's official website or through dealerships.
Commenting on the Hyundai AURA booking announcement, Mr. Tarun Garg, Director - Sales, Marketing & Service, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, Today we mark the beginning of the new decade with the commencement of bookings for the Hyundai AURA. The Hyundai AURA propagates Sensuous Sportiness. Hyundai Aura was showcased in Chennai and only the exteriors were revealed. The front profile looks similar to the Grand i10 Nios and it is the rear that sees a varied design. For starters, it is the sloping roofline and C-shaped taillights that grabs the attention.
Furthermore, the blacked out C-pillar gives it a sporty look. We expect the interiors of the Hyundai Aura to take inspiration from the Nios hatchback. It will get BlueLink connectivity, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a cooled glove box and among others.
The steering wheel is inspired by the Hyundai Venue and it will get a large touch screen for the infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features. Leather upholstery can be expected for the higher trims.
Mechanically, the Hyundai Aura will get three engine options, all tuned to BS6 norms. The newest 1.0L, turbo petrol engine is derived from the Hyundai Venue. However, the power output will be limited to 100 bhp and 172 Nm. The Venue produces a whopping 120 bhp on tap.

The 1.2L, turbocharged BS6 diesel engine will continue to produce 74 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. And the naturally aspirated, 1.2L petrol produces 82 bhp with 114 Nm of torque. The transmission option will stick to a 5-speed MT and an AMT gearbox.
As of now, the prices are yet to be announced but we expect it to be at a premium than the Xcent. The latter starts at a price tag of Rs 5.81 lakh and fetches up to Rs 8.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top spec model. Once launched, the sedan will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
