The thrive for SUVs is on the rise for a long in the Indian market and we have encountered several segments related to it. The compact, mid-size, full-fledged and now the recent, micro SUVs. Well, India's second-largest carmaker, Hyundai is planning to bring the AX1 and based on the spy shots, this rendered image shares how the production model might look like.

From the front, the split headlight design set-up gives the AX1 an aggressive yet striking look. The LED daytime running lights at the top with round headlights at the bottom. We can also expect a projector set up in the production model. The mesh pattern on the grille really brings a distinct character to the AX1.

From the sides, the AX1 continues with a boxy character and if you have known of Santro Xing then the resemblance strikes. What has changed is the pillar mounted door handles that are in fashion and we have seen on popular cars like Maruti Swift and Tata Altroz.

The body cladding runs on the body and you also have black-painted wheels. The top-spec models will come with alloy wheels but for the lower and mid variants, we expect this blacked-out wheel cover design. Again, this is a rendered image and the production model might differ from it.

The rear is not yet out but we do believe it will carry LED taillights and an aggressive bumper design. Feature-wise, we can expect a large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multi-function steering wheel, voice command, wireless charging and more.

Mechanically, the AX1 is expected to be powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol. The turbo will be sourced from Hyundai Venue and will be downsized by a bit. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and we can expect an optional AMT for the 1.2L petrol.
