Hyundai Motor India has recently launched the all-new second-generation 2020 Hyundai Creta in India. The second-generation model of the Creta has now been on sale for quite some time in the overseas markets like South Korea and China, where it is known as Hyundai ix25. The five-seater Hyundai Creta has enjoyed astonishing success all-over and is very popular both in India as well as the global markets and now the South Korean car manufacturer is working on the seven-seater version of the Hyundai Creta. The Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV will be an elongated version of the new Creta and will be launched in India too. In this article, we tell you all we know so far about the upcoming Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV.

The camouflaged 7-Seater version of the Hyundai Creta has been recently spied on test for the first time ever which revealed its front design. Thereafter, it has been spotted multiple times revealing its front fascia, side profile, and even the rear figuration. It is currently undergoing the testing process in its native country South Korea. We will witness a lot of test mule units in the coming months when Hyundai's Indian subsidiary will start testing the Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV in India.
The 7-Seater Hyundai Creta will get minor nip and tuck as compared to the 5-seater model. The 7-Seater iteration of the Creta looks almost identical to its 5-seater version from the front except for a revised grille and inclusion of front parking sensors. But things start changing when we move to the side. The Creta 7-seater model will be around 30mm longer and a tad taller than the standard Creta. It will also get usable roof-rails unlike the flush-fitting ones on its 5-seater sibling and rear quarter-glasses too. Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV will have a longer wheelbase compared to its kin to accommodate three rows of seats. However, it will get a smaller boot because of the additional seats.
The rear profile of the Hyundai Creta 7-Seater model will be completely different from the standard mid-size SUV. Hyundai has ditched the eccentric design of the standard SUV and it looks more conventional to appeal to a wider audience. It gets a newly designed tail-gate that looks more upright and features new large tail-lamps with wraparound LED-strips. The interior of the 7-Seater Creta will be almost identical to the 5-Seater model but Hyundai might offer some more premium features considering it will be a relatively premium model.

Talking about the powertrain options, it would be too early to comment on it, but we expect the India-spec model to borrow powertrain options from the standard Creta. This means that it will get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.5-litre gasoline will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT, the 1.5-litre oil-burner will be coupled to a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter AT, and the powerful 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor will be mated to a 7-speed DCT.
Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV will be initially launched in the global markets. The 7-Seater Creta will make its way to India in mid-2021 and will face healthy competition from the upcoming Tata Gravitas, MG Hector Plus, and the second-generation Mahindra XUV 500 which is also scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2021. Hyundai Creta 7-Seater model is likely to be priced between Rs. 14 lakhs - Rs. 20 lakhs, Ex-showroom.
