Hyundai Genesis India Entry; GV70 and GV80 SUVs Confirmed?
As per the online reports, the Genesis brand will target luxury car buyers. The prime focus will be on attacking the sales of brands like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, and Volvo. To do that, Hyundai has appointed a specific team to evaluate the luxury car market in India. The core task of this team is to structure a detailed plan along with the profit estimations for the new products.
Speaking of the products, Genesis sells luxury SUVs and sedans globally. But, the SUV trend in the Indian car market will probably push the brand to launch its GV70 first. The GV70 is a mid-size SUV that directly competes with the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC globally. Post the GV70, Genesis will debut the GV80; a bigger SUV that competes with the Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLE. Both of the models will debut as CBU initially. However, Hyundai plans on localising these models going forth.
Pricing of these models can not be estimated right now. But, considering the fact that these will rival the popular luxury SUVs; the ballpark of pricing will remain similar.

Verdict
The Indian luxury car market has seen an upward sales in the previous fiscal year. In fact, the total market share of luxury cars went by up to 1.5-2 percent considering the fact that most brands have hiked the prices of their product lineup. Hence, it seems the right time for Genesis to make its entry in India.
