Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has enjoyed astounding accomplishment in the SUV segment of the country. The best-selling SUV of the South Korean car manufacturer in India is the Hyundai Creta which was first launched in the year 2015 with a tagline 'The Perfect SUV'. Five years down the line and in-comes the new second-generation Creta in 2020 with a new tagline 'The Ultimate SUV'. Meanwhile, Hyundai also launched the Hyundai Venue sub-compact SUV in 2019 with a tagline 'The Connected SUV' and together these two utility vehicles have propelled Hyundai to the Top of the SUV sales chart in India.

Hyundai Motor India became the largest Utility Vehicle (UV) maker in India in the month of March 2020 by defeating players like the Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors and others. In March 2020, Hyundai has managed to dispatch a combined volume of 12,833 units of the Venue and Creta (new as well as old-generation models). In comparison, Maruti Suzuki was able to dispatch 11,904 units of its UV range, which includes Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross, and Gypsy (only for Indian army).
Following Maruti Suzuki in the list, the third spot is occupied by Kia Motors which managed to dispatch 8,583 units of the Seltos and Carnival Premium MPV. Next place is occupied by home-grown UV maker, Mahindra and Mahindra, which managed a total of only 3,079 units. Mahindra's utility vehicle range includes the XUV 500, TUV 300, XUV 300, Scorpio, Nuvo Sport, Alturas G4, Bolero, Marazzo, and Xylo.

However, it should be noted that the figures mentioned here only count the units sent by the OEMs to the dealerships and not the actual delivery of vehicles to the owners as most likely it could not happen due to the 21-day nationwide lockdown by virtue of the deadly coronavirus. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, everything has turned into a standstill. The automobile sector is one of the worst affected units as production has been temporarily halted and dealerships have been shut indefinitely.
