Hyundai India revealed the Aura Sedan last year and it was the spiritual successor to the old Hyundai Xcent. Surprisingly enough, Hyundai decided not to take the Xcent off its shelves and continue selling it with a sole petrol engine. Not only that was available with a petrol engine, but Hyundai was also offering the CNG version for fleet operators too. Now Hyundai has finally discontinued the Xcent as the brand has removed the Xcent from the Indian website.
The Hyundai Aura comes with loads of improvements - be it in styling or engine options. Hyundai Xcent really didn't have any space left and that space felt even shorter after the launch of Aura CNG. The Xcent was popular in the fleet segment thanks to the CNG option and a big boot - both of which are now also offered with the Aura. Hence, it was the right time to take the Xcent off the shelves and Aura taking over.

Giving some context on the Xcent, the Grand-i10 based sub-compact family sedan was available with 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.2-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre petrol was also available with a 4-speed AT along with 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the Aura comes with three engine options - 1.2-litre petrol, 1.2-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The 1.2 petrol and diesel engine options are available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT whereas the turbo petrol is offered with MT only.

However, Hyundai is still selling the Xcent Prime for fleet buyers. The Xcent Prime comes with a 1.2-litre engine with CNG and a speed limiter. There is no timeline given for the availability of Xcent Prime and the car is only suited for fleet operators. As the Hyundai Xcent now has been removed from the website, Aura, Verna and Elantra are the three sedans the Korean brand officially deals in the Indian market.
