Audi India is on a bang after a year of silence, we just saw back to back launches of the new A6 and the uber-luxurious Audi Q8 and the next new product will be the new Audi A8L. This is the brand's flagship luxury sedan and an answer to the segment leader Mercedes S-class and the dynamic BMW 7-series. The new Audi A8L will hit our shores in February. What Audi has brought to the table? Let's find out!
3.0-litre V6 TFSI with Mild-hybrid Technology
The Indian-spec Audi A8L will be powered by a sole 3.0-litre V6 TFSI petrol and it is the same what we get in the Audi Q8. It has been coupled with a mild-hybrid powertrain which comprises a belt alternator starter (BAS) and a lithium-ion battery. This mild-hybrid technology can power the A8 with zero emissions for up to 40 seconds. A8 can turn it's engine off and can coast at speed between 55 and 160 km/h on battery power only.
Dynamic All-wheel Steering
To sort out tight manoeuvres, Audi has plonked dynamic, all-wheel steering to the A8L which turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front wheels at slow speeds and it shortens the turning radius of the huge long-wheelbase iteration we will get. On highways, the rear wheels steer in the same direction of the front wheels to give superb cornering ability and comfort as it shortens the wheelbase of the car virtually.

Outlandish Dimensions
The dimensions of the Audi A8L, as the name suggests, are huge! The length is 5.3 metres, width is 1.95 metres and the height is 1.49 metres. It is even longer and wider than the Mercedes S class. What even more outlandish is the single frame trapezoidal grille at the front and connected LED light bar at the rear. Audi will laud these features with moniker "Sporty elegance, sophistication and progressive status".
MMI Touch Response Screens
Audi has always been the benchmark of innovation and technology in the luxury segment, the same story continues here also. The centre stage of the dashboard has been taken by two large and crisp touchscreen displays. The main display attains a size of 10.1 inches and it disappears into the gloss black dashboard when turned off. The other one will be smaller in size and will be responsible for AC controls and other modes.

Air Quality Package
A8L is also equipped with Air Quality Package and it takes the interior air quality level at a whole new level. It has two ionizers which change the air molecules electrically with negative ions. These anions attract dust particles so that they form mini clusters that fall to the floor and so are not inhaled.
Lavish Interiors
There is no doubt that the A8L's interiors look apart. The beautifully crafted interior with gloss black finish gives it a very mature and stunning stance. The ambient lighting uplifts the experience in the night. Rear passengers get two detachable android tablet as the rear entertainment system. You can operate the infotainment system while sitting at the back and there is also an OLED remote controller for your massage controls with sunroof and sunblinds control as well.
Foot Massage On-Demand
Well if you want utmost luxury, you should sit on the left rear seat as it hosts some great luxury features. Available on the Audi A8L is a relaxation seat which features a host of options for adjustment and massaging as well as a footrest on the backrest of the front passenger seat with a luxurious Foot Massager.
