Shrikant Madhav Vidya, Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation said, 2000 EV charging stations will be installed in the next 12 months and the rest 8000 in the next couple of years to achieve the target of 10,000 EV charging stations in the next three years. Eventually, we want to become an energy company in India and not just be restricted to selling petroleum products. The world is changing. We tend to set up EV charging points and battery swapping stations at our petrol pumps alongside offering auto-LPG and conventional fuels. So it will be a bouquet of offerings.

With a focus on electric vehicles and cleaner fuel the Indian Oil Corporation currently holds 40% of the petroleum dominated market. The companies do not have much idea about the step-up of the charging stations as this technology has been recently introduced in the market so stepping into the EV market might not be that easy.
