The Isuzu V-Cross has been a success in India with thousands of enthusiasts and adventure seekers opting for this capable pick-up for the past few years. Inspite of a few other options like the Scorpio Gateway, the V-Cross has created its own niche here. Though the current model is good enough, we are all looking forward to the upcoming Isuzu V-Cross 2020 model that was launched in Thailand last year. Here are some images that came our way, showcasing the pick-up in its natural environs.
The 2020 Isuzu V-Cross won't be here till the end of the year but that doesn't stop us from drooling over this new, updated model. Wrapped in custom colours and a cool sticker job, these two V-Cross do look cool enough. The pictures here show both wheel articulation as well as approach/departure angles that allow for such antics without hitting either of the two bumpers.
Off-roading abilities remain as good as ever though the biggest change will be the new, more powerful 3.0 diesel unit. This will be BS6 compliant and will churn out 190 bhp of power along with 450 Nm of torque. The current 2.5 is good for 134 bhp and 320 Nm. India also gets the new 1.9 litre diesel that will also be offered with the new model. To keep costs in check, the 1.9 might be offered with a manual gearbox only.
The Isuzu V-Cross 2020 will also get a revised cabin in terms of design and features. India will get the 4-door version that will be comfortable enough for 5 passengers. A new infotainment system, semi digital console, new set-up for the climate control etc can be expected to be offered in the updated model.
The 2020 model will also get Terrain Command as standard and an automatic will be on the option list as well. Isuzu offers a standard warranty of 3 years / unlimited mileage and the same is expected to be on offer for the Indian model too. However do remember that if you end up modifying it beyond a certain extent, the warranty will get void.
Prices for the current model start at about Rs 16.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and its safe to expect a price hike of Rs 1-2 lakh for the Isuzu V-Cross 2020 model. The vehicle doesn't really have a direct rival in India yet and this gives it a free hand in the segment. The pictures you see do not do justice to what all the pick-up can do off the road. One of the two seems to be slightly modified as well with different alloy wheels and possibly, all-terrain tyres. In the meantime, don't forget to see this modified current V-Cross from Bimbra 4x4.
The 2020 model is lighter than the current pick-up and comes with a longer wheelbase for added space. It is also safer with more kit on offer and a modified body shell that will make sure it will pass the upcoming Indian crash norms. The commercial D-Max will continue to sell as it is but with an updated, BS6 compliant motor. This model, understandably, does not get a 4x4.
