Kia EV4 Revealed Globally; Details!

The EV4 is one of the few cars from Kia which will be offered in both hatchback and sedan guise. While it continues to carry Kia's globally renowned 'Opposites United' design language, the EV4 is significantly easier to categorize, because the EV6 does not fit into any conventional design category, and it is more commonly referred to as a 'shooting brake.' In this case however, Kia has shown the EV4 in both hatchback and sedan guise, making it far more easier to categorize them.

The front of the EV4 seems to draw heavy inspiration from its bigger sibling, featuring a sloping bonnet treatment and a slim element on the nose connecting the vertical headlights. A large air dam resides on the lower bumper, featuring a panel for the ADAS sensors in the middle.

The profile of the EV4 also carries a clean, minimalist design theme, keeping Kia's design language in mind. The fenders are flared, but the doors are devoid of unnecessary cuts and creases, and it also features flush-fitting door handles that make it resemble the EV6 even more. Both the sedan and the hatchback versions receive 19-inch wheels with machine-cut alloy rims.

From the rear onwards, the EV4 sedan receives a two-part spoiler, vertical tail lights, and its tailgate closely resembles what we have been seeing on the EV6. Meanwhile, the hatchback gets a more angular windscreen, and it also gets a full-length light strip connecting the tail lamps.
Not much is known about the interiors at the moment. However, we can expect similar treatment to what we have seen on premium Kia models, such as the new Kia steering wheel, the 12.3-inch blended screen setup, along with other futuristic elements on the dashboard and the centre console.

We know that the EV4 will be underpinned by the same e-GMP platform that also does duties on the EV6, the EV9, and its Hyundai cousin, the Ioniq 5. However, the powertrain, battery, performance and range remain under tight wraps for now, but all that will be revealed on February 27. For now, we do know that the EV4 will be available in a standard rear-wheel drive version and a GT-Line all-wheel drive version.

Verdict
The EV4 will be a very interesting car for Kia to bring to India, considering how much it looks like a smaller EV6. Given that the Korean car maker has plans to expand its EV lineup in India, the EV4 has to be among the cars it plans to have in the pipeline. Kia is yet to officially announce anything on the India-front, but there are reports of a Carens-based EV and a Sonet-based EV, which can be expected in the near future.
