Kia Motors has built a solid foundation with the Seltos in the Indian market and now the South Korean manufacturer is gearing up for the launch of its second product, Carnival. Furthermore, Kia Motors have said that they will also launch a subcompact SUV, code-named the QYI, later in 2020.
Kia QYI, a sub compact SUV will go against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra XUV300. The strategy of Kia Motors is that they will be bringing in a new product every six months and are following their pattern. The plan is to dominate the Utility Vehicles segment as it is getting popular in the Indian market.
We have seen the spy shots for the same on Indian roads but pointing out the design philosophy would be an early call right now. What we know so far is that it will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. The QYI is also expected to share the same powertrain as that of its cousin.

It could include the same 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor which produces 120 bhp along with 172 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5L oil burner can come on the list too as will the six-speed manual transmission and the convenience of 7-speed DCT. The 1.2L kappa engine will also make its way in the portfolio.
As far as the design is concerned, it will carry the signature 'tiger-nose' grille from the Seltos. New-age styling like the split headlight design is likely to come with the sub compact SUV. The interiors will be new and the features are likely to be borrowed from the Seltos. It'll be interesting if the QYI comes with both Tech Line and GT Line. This basically differentiates the buyers who are looking for luxury elements and one who wants to stick to sportiness.
