Kia Motors has now officially teased the rendering of Sonet in Red shade and the compact SUV will feature an iMT Gearbox. Coming to the teaser image, it retains Kia's signature tiger-nose grille as seen in the bigger sibling Seltos and will also carry its own design language.
It is widely known that the teased Kia Sonet in red shade will sit on the same platform as Hyundai's Venue and will receive the same iMT gearbox. Interestingly, the engine displacement and both manual and automatic transmission too will be shared by both the siblings. What's new is the change in design, features and the UVO connect car technology. Hyundai uses BlueLink technology.
Sharing more details from the teased image, it can be concluded that the Sonet will feature projector headlights with integrated DRLs. It will also get roof rails, shark fin antenna, machine cut alloy wheels like some of the features. Upfront, the design of the grille looks massive but is well inclined with the angular bumper.

In one of the recent TVCs of Sonet, Kia showcased the design of the taillights. The reflector strip which runs across the boot gives it a unique looking feature which we have also seen in the discontinued Honda BR-V. You also get rear wipers, lip spoiler which enhances the rear portfolio of the compact SUV.
Sharing highlights from the interiors then we can expect and all-black colour scheme that will be borrowed from Seltos. The all-black cabin will surely give the buyers a sporty look. Also, the Sonet will feature the largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit in the segment. It will host several modern connectivity features like Voice Command, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and UVO Connect.

Coming to engine displacement then it will continue with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the base trims while the 1.0L turbo petrol will be seen from mid and higher trims. You will also get a 1.5L detuned engine from the Seltos which makes 99 bhp on tap. The transmission includes a 5-speed manual for 1.2L petrol, a 6-speed manual for the 1.0L turbo petrol and diesel. Both the 7-speed DCT and iMT gearbox will come with the turbo petrol engine.
Once launched, Kia Sonet will rival with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon. If Kia plays the pricing factor right for Sonet then this can be the second made in India SUV to reach highest sales after the Seltos.
