Kia Motors will soon mark its foray into the compact SUV segment of India with the Sonet SUV. So far, Kia has enjoyed astonishing success in the country with the Seltos and the Carnival. It is because of these two UVs that Kia became the fastest car manufacturer in India to achieve the One Lakh sales milestone in just no time. Now finally, it's time for the Sonet. The Kia Sonet will make its World Premiere in India Tomorrow, i.e. on August 7, 2020. So, today we list for you the Top 5 things which you need to know about the upcoming Kia Sonet.
Before we begin with the Sonet, let me give you a quick minutia about the journey of Kia in India. So, Kia Motors marked its official debut in the Indian market with the Seltos SUV. The Seltos was launched in India in August 2019 and it set the sales chart on fire. It was one of the most loved and best-selling SUVs of 2019. Then, Kia launched the Carnival Premium MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo and it also got a great response in the market. Now, Kia will introduce its third car in India, Sonet, which is again an SUV.
Top 5 Things About The Upcoming Kia Sonet
Exterior Design
The Seltos is a stunning-looking SUV and the Kia Sonet too will boast a very imposing design language. Upfront, the Sonet will get Kia's signature tiger-nose grille which will be flanked by all-LED headlamps. It will get LED DRLs, LED fog lamps and might also get an illuminated grille. Being a compact SUV, the Sonet will feature tight body lines but it will run on 16-inch dual-tone alloys and will get roof rails too. At the rear, it will get LED taillamps and a thin red-coloured strip in between to lend a connected appeal to the taillamps. In a nutshell, the Sonet will look very sporty and will create its own unique identity in the segment.
Interiors
Just like the sporty exterior, the Sonet will offer a snazzy interior. Kia will retail the Sonet in Tech Line and GT-Line variants just like the Seltos. The Tech Line variants will sport opulent interiors while the GT-Line variants will feature sporty interiors. It will feature subtle red inserts inside the cabin on the centre console, door pads, red-stitching on the seats and a GT-line badging on the steering wheel. The Sonet will get plenty of features like an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, wireless charger, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Kia's UVO connected car technology, etc.

Segment First Features
Kia Seltos marked a strong impression in the market as it got a host of segment-first features. The Sonet will also repeat the same. It will get a plethora of class-leading features like ambient mood lighting, premium Bose speakers for all-around soothing music experience, etc. It will also get a 10.25-inch touchscreen unit which will be the biggest touchscreen system in its segment. The Sonet might also sport some other premium features like an integrated smart air purifier, ventilated seats, etc. It will get a bunch of safety equipment too including up to six airbags.
Engine and Gearbox Options
Kia Sonet will borrow the powertrains from the Hyundai Venue. This means that it will get 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated mill will churn out 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol will pump out 120 PS of power and 171 Nm of torque. This turbo-petrol motor will come mated to a 7-speed DCT and an iMT. The 1.5-litre oil-burner, on the other hand, will develop 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. All three engines might come mated to both a manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission.
Launch Timeline,Price and Rivals
Talking about the launch timeline, so the Kia Sonet will make its World Premiere in India tomorrow via a digital unveiling event. The bookings for the SUV are expected to officially begin from tomorrow and the prices will be revealed next month, i.e., in September this year. The Sonet is expected to be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 7 lakhs - Rs. 12 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. Upon launch, it will lock its horns against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV 300, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue.
