Kia Syros Engine Details Out; Petrol And Diesel Mills At Launch
Until now, there was a slew of teasers and spy shots that revealed what the Kia Syros compact SUV would look like and how it felt on the roads. But one thing that was veiled was the engine options. Mystery surrounded it as there were speculations that the diesel would be skipped keeping in mind the strongest regulations. Putting this all to rest, the engine details have been doing rounds online and it is all set to offer both a petrol as well as a diesel mill.
The Kia Syros will be offered with two engine options: a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired with manual and automatic transmission options. While the Syros will not be offered with the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine available in the Sonet, it is expected to be positioned at a premium price point, reflecting its more upmarket positioning.
As for the design, it has generated significant buzz with its recent teasers. The Syros boasts a distinctive design inspired by models like the EV9 and Carnival, featuring a unique window line. The interior promises a spacious five-seat layout and likely advanced features like a panoramic sunroof, an ADAS suite, wireless charger, automatic AC, and much more. The Syros will compete with other popular subcompact SUVs like the Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and others.
Verdict
Kia has successfully established itself in the Indian market with a range of popular models. The upcoming Syros, positioned alongside the Sonet, aims to further strengthen Kia's presence in the competitive subcompact SUV segment. While the Syros holds promise, it will face stiff competition from established players like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and others.
