Land Rover has launched the Defender range in the Indian market today and prices start from Rs 73.98 lakh. Land Rover Defender comes in two incarnations - 90 and 110, the former will be launched in India at a later date. Powering the Defender 110 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 300PS and 400 Nm of peak torque.
Land Rover Defender is an iconic offroader in the global markets and India had tasted the prowess of the last-gen Defender. The all-new Defender traces its roots from the old Defender despite having everything new. The new Defender sits on a monocoque chassis which the most rigid from Land Rover whereas the last Defender was based on a ladder-frame chassis.

Talking about the new one, we have square-shaped LED headlights with semi-circular LED DRLs. The contemporary looks and old school silhouette of the Defender is like no other and easily recognizable. The side profile of the Defender resembles with the old model - having a chiselled shoulder line and auxiliary glass panels. Land Rover India is also offering four customisation packages for the customers meeting individual needs. The Urban Pack is for your city runabouts incorporating form factor and style whereas the Explorer pack is for the offroad junkies.
The interiors of the Land Rover Defender are equally impressive with structural elements visible to the eyes and a jump seat as an option. Moreover, the Defender was also the first Land Rover to come with the brand's latest and most advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system which gets wireless built-in Spotify and OTA updates. Land Rover offers a full-pane panoramic sunroof in the 110 model whereas the 90 model gets electric cloth roof. The Defender also gets the Terrain Response 2 system which can be used to operate locking differentials, traction control and other offroad modes.
The powerhouse of the Defender is 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol which produces 300PS and 400 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed auto and four-wheel-drive system. As the Defender is a CBU unit, buyers will be given a slew of customisation options. For instance, buyers can choose from a total of 9 wheel design options which also includes steel rims. The Land Rover Defender 110 deliveries will start from now on but the 90 model deliveries will take place in the first quarter of 2021.
