Lexus has introduced the latest iteration of the Lexus LM MPV in India, providing initial insights into this second-generation model that shares a kinship with the Toyota Vellfire. Bookings for the LM, short for Luxury Mover, have officially begun. Remarkably, this marks the debut of the LM in the Indian market, considering its previous iteration was exclusively tailored for the Chinese market.

Built on Toyota's versatile GA-K modular platform, the second-generation Lexus LM shares its foundation with the Toyota Vellfire and various other models within the Toyota-Lexus spectrum. Its front fascia boasts the latest rendition of Lexus' oversized grille, accompanied by sleek LED headlights and elegantly designed vertical fog lamp enclosures finished in satin silver.

On its side profile, the LM exhibits an expansive glass area, enriched by discreet creases along the body line that break the monotony of its form. In contrast, the rear end embraces a minimalist approach, featuring a distinctive boomerang-shaped LED light bar as its standout element.

The Name Of Luxury: Blend Of Comfort And Features

In India, Lexus will present the LM in two distinct configurations: accommodating 4 and 7 passengers. Opting for the 4-seater variant brings forth a partition between the driver and passenger sections, showcasing an arrangement reminiscent of airline cabins. Furthermore, this setup includes plush recliner seats, a sprawling 48-inch TV, an elaborate 23-speaker surround-sound audio system, and luxurious pillow-style headrests.

Passengers are further indulged with fold-out tables, heated armrests, ottomans, multiple USB ports, wireless phone chargers, reading lights, vanity mirrors, a refrigerator, rear gloveboxes, and even an umbrella holder. Notably, a dimmable glass panel incorporated into the partition adds a layer of privacy, capable of being raised or lowered.

Moreover, LM introduces a pioneering voice control system exclusively tailored for rear occupantsa world-first according to Lexus. An overhead console takes charge of door controls, storage compartments, and cabin temperature. Moreover, a dual-part sunroof graces each side of the overhead console. To enhance their experience, rear passengers are endowed with a dedicated smartphone-style control panel for personalized adjustments, covering climate settings, seat functionalities, interior illumination, window blinds, and audio preferences.

Powertrain And Price

Globally, the LM (350h) employs a 2.5-liter self-charging hybrid engine, delivering 250hp and 239Nm to all four wheels. A stronger LM500h with a 2.4-liter turbo-hybrid is expected later. While the specific powertrain for India hasn't been confirmed, the 350h version is probable, matching the Vellfire.

In the luxury MPV segment, the Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire stand alone as the exclusive contenders. Meanwhile, Vellfire, priced at around Rs 1.20 crore to Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom), serves as a reference point for comparison, indicating that the upcoming Lexus LM is likely to be positioned above this price range.
