Lexus RZ 450e, the first all-electric car from the Japanese manufacturer has been teased ahead of its official debut on April 20. Read all the details below.
The first all-electric car from the Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus has been teased before its official global debut on April 20. The Lexus RZ 450e will be the beginning of an electric era for Toyota's subsidiary luxury brand.
Releasing the teaser over the internet, Lexus has confirmed the anticipation that the RZ 450e will be based on the less bling-rich Toyota bZ4x electric car. Although the underpinnings and the technical elements will be common in both cars, the RZ 450e will focus on more comfort-oriented and luxury features.
As visible from the teaser photos, the design has surely taken the cues from the bZ4x from Toyota and there are also some elements that have been carried over from the LF-Z electric car concept which was shown internationally some time back.
Front-end uses the trademarked Lexus spindle grille and the overall shape of the front does resemble the concept car as well. Yes, Lexus has used a more aerodynamic approach for designing the car in order to achieve minimum aero drag on the run. The design also features futuristic-looking LED headlights with DRLs resembling the Lexus portfolio cars. The rear profile has been uplifted a tad above and the single stripe of LED tail-light running all over the boot lid gives the RZ an immense road presence along with the futuristic look.
On the inside too, the cabin does resemble the bZ4x EV but Lexus has retained its luxury-oriented design approach in the design here as well. For example, the instrument cluster has a hood and the AC vents are placed above the infotainment panel; while Toyota bZ4x uses a minimalistic and more 'basic' design layout here.

It is anticipated that the RZ 450e will feature the same electric motor and battery pack as seen over the bZ4x EV from Toyota. This means the 71.4 kWh battery pack might power the car up to 217 hp of peak power in the all-wheel-drive option. We expect the real-world driving range of this upcoming electric car from Lexus to hover around 500 km on a single full charge.
Well, these details shall uncover shortly as the official global debut is all set for April 20 for the RZ 450e. We also suspect that Lexus will offer this car in a single variant only. The launch of this EV will begin a new electric journey for Lexus as this will be the first car to launch from the upcoming electric Lexus portfolio. With its official unveiling, we expect the global launch soon. Lexus will surely bring the car to Indian shores as soon as it gets launched internationally.
