Mahindra & Mahindra is currently working on a whole range of new vehicles for the Indian auto market, chief among which are the new XUV700 and the next-gen Scorpio. Recently, the automaker filed trademarks for the XUV400, XUV100, and XUV900 monikers, thereby hinting at a range of all-new products that will be introduced in the years to come. Mahindra is also planning to launch the Mahindra Bolero Neo. This model was recently teased on Twitter.
The aforementioned teaser shows the new Mahindra Bolero Neo emerging out strong from a dust cloud. It must be noted here that the Bolero has always been perceived as a highly rugged vehicle and hence, the teaser seen above is totally in line with this image. Further reinforcing this fact is the tagline Dare made it to our dictionary. Fear couldnt.
Based on the Mahindra TUV300, the new Bolero looks almost akin to the donor vehicle, except for a new front-end that carries a vertically stacked, 6-slate grille finished in chrome. Even the headlamps are new and feature LED DRLs to make the front-end look slightly more premium. Other updates include a new set of fog lamps and reworked bumper with a larger air intake. The side profile would remain largely untouched except for the new design alloy wheels. Details of the rear-end aren't available as of now but we don't expect any comprehensive revision.
Inside, the Mahindra Bolero Neo will offer a dual-tone dashboard that would carry a new instrument cluster and probably a touchscreen infotainment unit. Other highlights will include beige fabric upholstery and armrest and headrests for middle-row seat.
Powering the new Bolero will be the same 1.5-litre turbo-diesel unit that is found under the hood of the TUV300. It outputs a maximum power of 114hp and a peak torque of 300Nm. The motor could be re-tuned a bit for its application in the new Bolero. Once launched, the new model will go on to lock horns with more sophisticated but less rugged models like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
