This Modified Maruti Gypsy From Bimbra 4x4 Makes Off-Roading Easier

Maruti Gypsy was an iconic car which was owned by both private and army personnels. It was because of its peppy petrol engine and further, it was the most affordable 4x4 that came in handy. Maruti discontinued the Gypsy in 2019 but still, it continues to rule many hearts because of the easy modifications and the go-anywhere attitude. One such example of modified Maruti Gypsy is from Bimbra 4X4 which specialised in modifications of vehicles.

Now, for this modified Maruti Gypsy we have here is of the owner itself, Taran who heads Bimbra 4X4. This is a 2008 model which was brought in by him in 2013 and eventually, the SUV has got enough modifications to make the off-roading easier.

On the exteriors, both the front and rear stock bumpers have been replaced by a metal one which is also now Linex coated. The height of the SUV is also increased as it uses a two-inch lift kit with profender shockers. To further give it a mean look, the wheel arches are extended by 6-inches and are Linex coated too.

This Gypsy now sits on Maxxix 980 all-terrain tyres on 15-inch steel trims. And to enhance the illumination at night, the headlights are customised with HID installed and sports LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights). This one also gets an original hardtop and retains the grille which came in with the stock vehicle. Both these units are now Linex coated. The owner also went for the body wrapping that is seen on the doors and the BIMBRA 4X4 decal too. For a wider view, the owner has installed large side mirrors.

Moving further, on the inside, you notice the sports steering wheel which is now a power-operated unit. It also has an AC unit which makes the ride easier when you're not off-roading. The interiors also see a music system, floor carpeting, bucket seats at the front, sofa seats for the rear passengers and roof lining. Like the others, the dashboard too gets Linex coating.

Now coming to the engine specifications then we have the stock 1.3-litre petrol engine which churns out a good 80 bhp and a peak torque of 103 Nm. This unit could not be upgraded to the BS6 norms and because of other safety norms, the Gypsy had to be discontinued.

Now coming further, the owner has not gone for the engine tuning so the power gets retained. However, there is a BMC air filter which ensures a higher airflow, a working snorkel which helps in reducing the chance of water entering your engine and lastly there is a performance exhaust for that extra punch when needed.
