Maruti S Cross has always been a premium selling car for the Indian carmaker. And ever since it was first launched with its usual 1.6L DDiS unit, it became popular. Well, it failed first because India was not yet ready for a powerful and expensive car. Then came in facelift which played well with the looks and included more features. The usual 1.3L diesel was the most popular and made an affordable choice. However, there were still some who picked the punchy 1.6L one and then came in the enthusiasts who tastefully modified the Maruti S Cross.

Before we proceed about this modified S Cross, please note that Maruti is also launching a petrol version for the same after lockdown. Since diesel is out of its way, the 1.5L petrol makes 103 bhp and comes in 5-speed manual gearbox!
Engine - 1.6L DDiS Diesel
Stock Figures - 118 bhp and 320 Nm
Figures after tuning - 195 bhp and 440 Nm
Yes, you glanced at those power figures right. 195 bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque. That is a lot for a crossover. If you like to compare it with the older-gen Hyundai Creta then it made 126 bhp and just 260 Nm of peak torque on the stock. Here, the stock S-Cross is still powerful in terms of torque figures.
Sharing more details on this modified S Cross then it gets a Wolf Performance Stage 3 street tune, Garrett turbo upgrade, FMIC Intercooler upgrade, Blackworks De-Cat downpipe, Borla Axle-back exhaust system and Custom air take revision.

This modified S-Cross is tuned in a way that it serves as a daily driver and puts out maximum power when needed. Basically, a diesel sleeper which will smoke you if you try and be over smart. Oii, that's Cheeky, eh? The mod is strictly under the hood and subtle exterior changes. In that way, it makes it a trouble-free crossover from cops too.
The stock version of the 1.6L diesel S Cross puts 118 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It was discontinued later because of low sales and higher maintenance. The humble 1.3L DDiS proved its longevity and made 90 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
