Earlier it was not clear whether Maruti will offer an automatic transmission with the S-Cross petrol because it will just be priced higher in the end. However, to make up for the loss in fuel efficiency and punchy torque from the diesel, this petrol will be offered with idle start/stop and torque boost.
The car will be launched in the early weeks of June and you can book it unofficially across all dealerships. What's new is that the 2020 S-Cross will drop the base Sigma trim and will now only be offered in Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Coming to the engine details then it is the same as Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. This 1.5L petrol unit develops 105 PS of power with 138 Nm of peak torque. Transmission is taken care of by a 5-speed manual and an optional 4-speed torque converter unit. Also, all the variants of the S-Cross will be offered with an optional automatic gearbox.
