
Just recently we gave you an update on how other carmakers like Mahindra and Hyundai will hike the prices of all their models from next year. New update from India's largest carmaker, Maruti has announced that they will also hike the prices of all their cars from January 1, 2021.

Maruti has addressed the concern for its price hike because of the rise in input costs. As of now, there is no clarity as to how much the hike will be but expect a few thousand rupees. Also, the RTO charges increase by a certain percent every year so while buying your car do keep this thing in mind.

Maruti will hike the prices of its cars in a subtle manner and it will depend on each model. India's largest carmaker recently turned 38th on December 14, 2020, and it has surely covered a lot of journey from when they first brought in the 800 into the Indian market at a price of Rs 48,000. Since then, the carmaker has come a long way and have known to bring in fuel-efficient cars.
In other news, Maruti is keen on bringing the diesel engines back to life in 2021. Currently, other carmakers like Hyundai, Tata, Kia, Mahindra and Ford have diesel engines in the compact SUV segment and only Maruti is left behind. So they are making the BS6 engines. We also spotted Ertiga doing rounds on Indian highway in its BS6 diesel disguise.

We believe that they will bring in their in-house 1.5-litre diesel engine for cars like Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz. While their smaller cars like Baleno and Dzire will see a lesser tuned version of this 1.5-litre turbocharged BS6 diesel unit.
