Let's start with the sedate one, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 has a 4.0-litre bi-turbo under the hood and it makes 469 Hp and 650 Nm of torque mated to AMG's 9-speed automatic gearbox. The engine drives the rear wheels through AMG's rear axle locking differential. Mercedes India also offers the C 43 AMG which employes a 3.0-litre V6 engine and that also gets 4matic drivetrain. The C 63 AMG does nought to 100 in just 4.0 seconds whereas the C 63 S sheds the time to 3.9 seconds.
The looks of the C63 Coupe are more striking and sharp as compared to the sedan iteration owing to the tapering roofline and muscular haunches above the wheels. Mercedes' Panamercia AMG grille takes the front and 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels are also offered. More details about the specs and features will be shared on the launch day which is 27th of May.
The super exciting and the top of the line AMG is going to be the Mercedes-AMG GT R. It got a facelift last year and we are finally getting it in India. Hugely popular as the beast of green hell, the GT R is one of the finest AMG the brand has ever produced and it also gets a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 under that 2-mile long hood. But here the engine produces 576 Hp and 700 Nm of torque paired with AMG Speedshift DCT. The AMG GT R does nought to 100 in just 3.6 seconds and maxes out at 318 km/h. It is a proper track carver sporting some industry-leading mechanicals like manual multilevel traction control, rear-wheel steering and ceramic brakes.
Both these ferocious machines will embark their first V8 growl on 27th May in the Indian market and these won't cost in pennies. We are talking an upward of Rs 1.5 crores for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe and 2.5 crores for the GT R. Mercedes also launched the AMG GT63S 4-door Coupe at the 2020 Auto Expo at a price of Rs 2.42 crores.
