Unveiled in mid-2020, the Mercedes AMG GT Black Series is based on the GT3 Racecar, with the most powerful V8 under its hood.
Mercedes- Benz has announced that they will launch the AMG GT Black Series here in India, later this year. The pinnacle of the brand AMG is regarded as the fastest production car around the infamous Green Hell, i.e. Nurburgring. Prices are yet to be confirmed but expect it to cost around Rs. 3.45 to Rs. 4 crores.
With the most powerful V8 engines under its hood, the AMG GT Black Series is closer in spirit to the GT3 race car. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 720 bhp between 6,700 rpm- 6,900 rpm, and 800 Nm of peak torque that hits as early as 2000 rpm, and stays all the way up to 6000 rpm. Mercedes-AMG has worked a lot on this V8 engine, which was dubbed as the M178 LS2 during its testing days. The engine features a flat-plane crankshaft, new and larger turbochargers, an intercooler, new camshafts, and lastly, the firing order has been tweaked. With the above changes, the Mercedes AMG can do zero to 100 km/h acceleration in mere 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 325 km/h.

But aside from the engine, Mercedes has heavily worked on the exterior of the car, as well, to aid its acceleration prowess. For starters, the front fascia is dominated by a large Panamericana radiator grille, along with air curtains, fins, and a splitter with an extension. LED headlamps with V-shaped DRLs further aggravate the GT Black Series aggressive stance.
Furthermore, the front bonnet, splitter, side-view mirrors, side skirts, roof, rear diffuser, and rear wings are all made of carbon fiber to curb weight. The tires are also built specifically for the AMG GT Black Series. Along with it, it also gets adjustable camber (for both front and rear), adjustable anti-roll bars, electrically adjustable dampers with three settings, manually adjustable ride height, and an extended bonnet that aides in better aerodynamics. The latter directs the hot air from the engine bay and keeps the temperature optimal for efficient performance. The interior is equally luxurious as well, fitted with bucket seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and Mercedes-Benzs latest MBUX infotainment system.
