Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 Acceleration Test - It's Absolute Bonkers! [Video]

Mercedes India announced the launch of the EQC 400 for the Indian market last year. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the launch of the EQC 400 which was earlier scheduled for April 2020 was postponed. We still don't have the confirmed launched date but we got to drive the EQC 400 from Delhi to Manesar. Our review of the EQC 400 will go live this week, till then, see the brisk acceleration test of the new Mercedes EQC 400.

Electric cars are famous for their instant torque delivery which translates to brutal G's and acceleration. The EQC 400 left us stunned with its performance and some sports cars can't come close in terms of instant power delivery. As you can see in the video, our editor was stunned with the acceleration of the EQC 400. Thanks to all-wheel drive, there is no tyre squealing and as it is fully-electric, you are doing triple-digit speeds without even having the sensation of it. The whole experience is a little mind-numbing and makes you a tad dizzy. You have got to experience the electric adrenaline rush for once.

If we talk about the figures, the Mercedes EQC 400 did 0-100 in about 5 seconds flat in our acceleration test. For comparison, the Ford Mustang GT does 0-100 in around 4.5 seconds and mind you, the EQC 400 weighs over 2500 kg. Now you can assume the electric power yourself. Despite being electric, the EQC comes with launch control - but a silent one.

In normal cars while in launch control, the engine climbs to its RPM range, the exhaust snarls and the tyres squeals while launching. However, the EQC 400 picks up in silence and goes to its limit without any nonsense. That's the silence of the EQC 400 which gives the blistering experience.

Mercedes-Benz India is expected to launch the EQC 400 later this year and it won't cost pennies - we are talking near a crore! The Mercedes-EQ EQC 400 comes with twin electric motors - mounted on each axle. The motors draw power from an 85 kWh battery pack sitting under the floor. The power output from the motors stands at 408 horsepower and 765 Nm of torque. The top speed of the EQC 400 is limited to 180 km/h for safety purposes. But we believe it can do much more than its top speed.
